Overview

St Bees stone, brass, steel

2200mm x 610mm x 1575mm

Oxfordshire

Crown highlights the rich heritage of the site - celebrating King Alfred’s apple orchards (with a nod to his crown) through a landmark sculpture located in the public square. This piece enables informal play; it is a den, a football goal and hosts a cast bronze butterfly on the interior roof to reward those small enough to enter the arch.

This project was awarded Highly Commended for the 'Best use of Arts, Culture or Sport' in the Placemaking Category of the National Planning Awards.
