Community Outreach Project for the VISTA sculptures

Malmesbury and Lea Primary Schools 

 

As part of the launch of VISTA, the new permanent public artwork in Malmesbury; VISTA LACE was a bespoke community outreach project delivered in partnership with Malmesbury and Lea Primary Schools. Designed to celebrate the town’s rich heritage of lacemaking, the project invited pupils to explore traditional textile practices through an interactive workshop with lace expert Janet Casselden. The students transformed into a giant, choreographed lace-making machine, physically enacting the patterns and rhythms of this historic craft. Vista Lace was created to encouraged the next generation to engage with place through creativity, collaboration, and embodied learning.
