VISTA stands as a sculptural intervention rooted in research, ecology, and community. Commissioned for Backbridge Farm in Malmesbury, the work interprets the site’s biodiversity through four corten steel panels featuring botanical cut-outs. More than a static object, VISTA is regenerative by design, incorporating four new hedgehog habitats to support the local ecosystem. This practice operates at the intersection of art and ecology, using sculpture to illuminate the layered stories of both human and more-than-human life within the landscape. Each detail in VISTA is grounded in local research and consultation – drawing on Malmesbury’s lace traditions via the Athelstan Museum, a bioblitz of the riverbanks, traditional clay tile making, and close engagement with the community.
